Natural Heritage can be described as all things natural, resulting from nature, that we inherit from generations before us and we in turn pass down to our children and future generations. This includes things like plant and animal species, biodiversity, wild spaces, forests, streams and natural areas for preservation and recreation/enjoyment.
The study of natural heritage helps us to make informed decisions about how to wisely use the land and resources that exist today. Proper stewardship makes sure generations to come can enjoy the natural heritage that we have today. For these reasons Conservation Halton has taken the first steps towards developing a Natural Heritage System for the watershed. We will be engaging various watershed stakeholders as we begin this process. More information will be made available as this program develops.
