The Conservation Halton Foundation's goal is to build a dedicated, carbon-neutral facility. This facility will house six breeding pairs of Eastern Loggerhead Shrikes and their young. It is located adjacent to our existing Raptor Centre at Mountsberg Conservation Area.
About the facility:
• Pole-barn construction on concrete pad
• 12 indoor/outdoor flights connected internally that can house six breeding pairs of shrikes
• Controlled-access and closed to public but with display birds and interpretive signage/programs to promote the project
• Webcams that allow non-disruptive viewing of the shrikes during breeding and non-breeding seasons (ideal for both educational programs and behavioural research)
