Free Dundas and Waterdown Homeowner Gardening Workshops start February 28 and March 1, 2017

Conservation Halton is hosting free Homeowner Workshops in Dundas and Waterdown. All workshops are from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the evening, the Dundas workshops are February 28, March 7 and 21, the Waterdown workshops are March 1, 8 and 22.

Conservation Halton hands out 2016 awards

Conservation Halton (CH) held its 34th annual Conservation Halton Awards on Tuesday, November 15 at the Milton Centre for the Arts. The awards are presented to people and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to conservation in the Halton watershed, which includes Halton, Peel, Hamilton and Puslinch.

Conservation Halton Board Appoints Hassaan Basit as CAO

The Conservation Halton Board of Directors are pleased to announce they have unanimously decided to offer Hassaan Basit the fulltime role of Chief Administrative Officer of Conservation Halton.

Courtcliffe Park Restoration Public Meeting on June 28, 2016

Conservation Halton in partnership with Trout Unlimited Canada and the Courtcliffe Park Committee are holding a public meeting at Carlisle Arena on Tuesday June 28 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

If you have Giant Hogweed, spring is the best time to remove it

If you have seen Giant Hogweed on your property, then now is the time to investigate, to see if any small hogweed plants are coming up, and take steps to control or eradicate them. Right now in the spring, when the plants are just starting to grow, is the best time to try and control it, and prevent it from producing seeds.Late in the summer, when Giant Hogweed is a giant plant with big white flowers, it is easy to spot, but that is not necessarily the ideal time to try and control it.

Conservation Halton is hosting a series of free homeowner workshops for Milton residents on May 4, 11 and 18 at the Milton Senior’s Activity Centre from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Please register in advance as spaces are limited.

Conservation Authorities are reminding residents of dangers that exist near streams, rivers, ponds and lakes around this time of year and urge people to keep family and pets away from the edge of all waterways.
